CARICOM President and Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said that sanctions should be removed

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez on Friday expressed gratitude for the call to have the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba lifted, at the 45th Meeting of Heads of State and Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

Havana, Cuba.- On his Twitter account, Rodríguez stressed that CARICOM’s call is a sign of the constant support from the Caribbean countries for Cuba and the universal demand, “better without the blockade.”

On Thursday, leaders of the Caribbean Community demanded that the United States eliminate the punitive policies it maintains against Cuba and Venezuela, whose effects are also damaging its trade partners.

Caricom President and Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said that the region’s leaders feel that after so many years of coercive measures, Washington should act to lift them.

We think that sanctions should be removed and people should be allowed to get on with their lives, especially at these difficult times, he stressed. (PL)
