"Amancio" prepares the next sugar harvest

Sugarcane production is part of the traditions of "Amancio;" this is a reality that no one can hide. Perhaps, for this reason, it has been maintained over the years, and although not as before, it finds followers who claim its revitalization.

"Amancio", Las Tunas.- During the last years, those who live in this southern region of Las Tunas have experienced the misfortune of seeing the local sugar mill out of operation and being content to support the harvest in neighboring factories.

However, it is noteworthy that the “Amancio” sugar workers’ contribution favored more than half of the production reached by the Colombia sugar mill, and they contributed both in key areas and in secondary places of the industry.

Besides, today two platoons equipped with new technology maintain the cuts in other municipalities, one in Manatí and the other in areas of the Antonio Guiteras sugar mill (Puerto Padre), where the harvest will continue as long as weather conditions allow it.

Meanwhile, the next harvest is being prepared in the 13 sugarcane units belonging to the Azcuba Sugar Group in "Amancio.” More than 900 hectares of land are in movement, with the assistance of a platoon of mats, in the Santa Amalia basic unit of cooperative production (UBPC), and one of the new technology rubbers, in the “Paraíso.”

As part of the assurances, the planting of sugarcane is also guaranteed; a task that today is concentrated in the Paraíso, Santa Amalia and Clotilde units, because are those with conditions for irrigation, although the rains of the last days allow greater progress.

Judging by the statistics, there should be no difficulties for "Amancio" to fulfill its sugarcane planting plans, the main indicator for the next milling.
