The Minister of Public Health of Cuba, Jose Angel Portal, spoke with his Kenyan counterpart, Mutahi Kagwe, about the two Cuban doctors kidnapped in Kenya, reported the news media here.
Havana, Cuba.- The Cuban health minister tweeted commenting that during the telephone conversation held on Thursday, the Kenyan health minister transmitted that his government continues to make efforts to guarantee the safe return of the kidnapped Cuban doctors.
Kagwe said he is working hard to achieve the return of collaborators Assel Herrera, specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine in the province of Las Tunas, and Landy Rodríguez, a specialist in Surgery in the province of Villa Clara, who were kidnapped on April 12th, 2019.
The Government of Cuba, headed by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, has been holding talks since then at the highest level with the governments of Kenya and Somalia.
Portal tweeted that the Kenyan health minister thanked Cuba for the medical collaboration and highlighted its good results, including the incorporation of collaborators in the fight against COVID-19. (PL)
