Special supply card

Just over a week since the beginning of the process, more than 437 applications have been received in Las Tunas to benefit from the provisional program, which will help people who reside in this territory, but have their supply cards in other provinces so that they are not able to buy the regulated basic basket.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Nancy Mariño Ramírez, the main specialist of the Consumer Registry Office (OFICODA) assured 26 that, to date, around 215 cards have been granted and all requests are processed in a hurry for the families can purchase food in the shortest possible time.

"We must mean that thanks to the skill and commitment to the process of our workers, more than 227 people have also joined other nuclei," the specialist said.

"We want to reiterate that the facility is only being granted to exceptional cases, consumers who are registered in other provinces, those who do not yet have documents of their homes or have not been able to make the change of address; and, in the case of persons living in rented houses, they will also receive a supply card, but included in the same register where the existing one of the dwelling in question is.”

Mariño Ramírez reported that, due to the large attendance of personnel, especially in the provincial capital, the strategy of handing out shifts has been adopted in some offices to avoid crowds of people, because the province is experiencing its most complex epidemiological panorama since the beginning of the pandemics.

"We urge citizen cooperation so that the process concludes with quality and in the shortest possible time," Nancy said. As a result of the COVID-19, we had to close one of the offices in this municipality, which will be an impediment to solving the most essential procedures.

“We ask families from Las Tunas not to go to our facilities with catarrhal symptoms, as they can contribute to the spread of the disease and cause the cessation of these facilities that are vital in the process of distribution of regulated food. We also emphasize the importance of maintaining physical distance in each of our units.”

The specialist argued that if some people present a specific situation that prevents them from being registered and does not comply with the established requirements, they can go to the nearest office of the Consumer Registry to receive information.

Due to the epidemiological situation, and in line with the measure announced by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, progress is being made in the province in the implementation of the provisional program that will benefit - until December and on an exceptional basis- the nuclei that currently do not have access to the basic food basket, mainly because they are not registered in places close to their residence.
