International Meeting of Solidarity with CubaCuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez presides over the final plenary session of the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba at the Convention Center, attended by 1,072 delegates from 219 organizations from 60 countries.

Havana, Cuba.- Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, secretary-general of the Cuban Trade Union Federation (CTC, made the opening remarks in which he emphasized that after two years without being able to hold the event following the COVID-19 pandemic, "we meet today to articulate ideas and consensus that to counteract the policies of imperialism and its neoliberal dictates."

He commented that in the previous days, the delegates were able to visit work centers, neighborhoods where transformations are being carried out, and social situations are being attended to. On Sunday, May 1st, they paraded through Havana's José Martí Revolution Square and took part in cultural activities.

International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba"Only those who fight, resist, and do not give in to imperialism have the right to triumph," concluded Ulises Guilarte his speech. He thanked all the participants for their solidarity with the cause of the Cuban people.

Representatives of political parties, trade unions, and progressive movements also debate the impact of COVID-19, human rights, and democracy searching for unity and agreement for the struggle.

The event works in three commissions organized around solidarity with the people's just causes; the world economic crisis, COVID-19, and the right of the peoples to life; and unity in diversity in the anti-imperialist struggle of the peoples.

The meeting has been held in Havana since 1994. It has become a point of convergence of the revolutionary anti-imperialist movements of the world.

CUBA THANKS WORLD SOLIDARITY AGAINST THE US BLOCKADE

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez thanked the world for its support in the fight against the US blockade while speaking at the International Solidarity Meeting.

The struggle against the US blockade imposed on Cuba is one of the main issues of the encounter; during the visit to Cuban entities and neighborhoods, the participants learn about the impact of the blockade and the measures to resolve it.

Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.Rodríguez expressed his gratitude to the organizations attending the event in this capital for the organization of days against the blockade, declarations, marches, donations, and support caravans.

With their struggle, they encourage the creative resistance of the Cuban people in the midst of enormous difficulties, the head of the island's diplomacy said.

In his words, Rodríguez recalled that Cuba supported the fight against COVID-19 in the world with 58 medical brigades of the Henry Reeve contingent and vaccines of national production have been used in a dozen countries, in addition to being offered to the Caribbean nations.

He reaffirmed the solidarity with the revolutions of Venezuela and Nicaragua, the support for Argentina's right to sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands, the struggle for the independence of Puerto Rico, and the claims of the Caribbean nations for reparations for the horrors of slavery.

The Chancellor expressed solidarity with the Palestinian, Syrian and Saharawi peoples and encouraged a solution through dialogue in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
