Cuba, France Tighten Links after Visit of Foreign Minister Le Drian

Cuba and France boosted their political relations with the visit last weekend to the island by Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves le Drian.

 

Havana, Cuba.- The French minister was received Saturday by president Miguel Díaz-Canel and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, meetings in which both parts expressed their will to continue the political dialogue and keep good Havana-Paris relations.

They also agreed to highlight the existing potential to deepen bilateral relations, regarding which Rodriguez affirmed they are on a good track regarding cultural, economic and academic links.

The eve, Le Drian toured the historic center of the capital, where he listened to explanations by the city's historian, Eusebio Leal and dialogued with French tourists.

In statements to local televisión, the diplomat assured that France wants to be partner to Cuba in the updating process of its social and economic process.

Le Drian is the first European Foreign Affairs minister to visit the island since last April, when Díaz-Canel assumed the post of president of the Councils of State and Ministers, after being elected by the People's Power National Assembly (Parliament). (PL)
