The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution have shown sustained and promising progress, said Jose Ramón Machado Ventura, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).

Havana, Cuba.- In closing the 9th Congress of the organization, in the presence of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC, Raúl Castro, Machado explained that conclaves should serve to check the agreements of the previous meeting to see how much progress was made and what remains to be done.

He stressed that these are not times for repeating mistakes, and these, when committed, cannot be justified with weak arguments.

The party leader recalled that every work requires perseverance and sacrifice, and that it is senseless to compare one generation with another, because people change and times do too.

In order to achieve success in the tasks, it is necessary to carry out integrated actions in which all the actors of the community participate, Machado pointed out.

"Everything is not right," we have to continue working, it is true that the political-ideological work has increased as well as with the family, but the results are modest, and it is necessary to advance on this taking into account the events happening in the world at the moment, he added.

It is necessary to broaden the participation of the neighbors, know their concerns, interests and cares, and carry out actions without sticking to schemes, because what may work in one area may not be effective in another, he reflected.

The 9th Congress of the largest organization of Cuban masses concluded on Friday after three days where attendees debated issues such as revolutionary surveillance, prevention, the role of youth and political-ideological work. (PL)
