The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, checked this week several programs that impact on the economic and social life of the island.

Havana,Cuba.- Díaz-Canel stressed the role must play the socialist state enterprise, which should be facilitated its development, for which it is called to the search of various ways that boost it.

"Sufficient highly trained professionals have to do this," said the Cuban leader.

The Head of State considered that the country should take advantage of all its potential and not settle for reaching 2030 with 24 percent of electricity from renewable sources of energy.

We must, he added, do everything possible to achieve greater results, depending on our economic conditions, he stressed.

He also warned over the recent oil spills in the bays of Matanzas and Cienfuegos and indicated that the sites where fuel is handled have adequate containment barriers and all security conditions are set up for immediate action.

Díaz-Canel referred to the situation the inhabitants of the people's council of Surgidero de Batabanó live, a coastal fishing village recently visited by him in the south of Mayabeque province, which still flooded due to hurricane Michael.

Drainage problems there are complex, he said, which make people have to wait a long time for water level in the streets to go down.

To solve this issue, authorities are working in a plan to change the location of the town in order to resolve that old problem, the President said. (PL)
