The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) on Monday called for the continental solidarity meetings against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for almost 60 years on the Caribbean island.

Havana, Cuba.- ICAP Vice President Noemí Rabasa told Prensa Latina about the importance of the events held this year.

She noted that a similar meeting will be held in Slovenia from November 23 to 25.

"These meetings are a movement of solidarity for Cuba and the world, with an emphasis on the fight against the blockade and the return of the territory illegally occupied by the US naval base in Guantánamo," she said.

They also demand the end to media terrorism against Cuba, the ICAP vice president noted.

Rabasa emphasized that within the working objectives is to reinforce solidarity actions in the provincial delegations and the political areas of the institute to demand the elimination of the blockade.

Since the ICAP was founded in 1960, a solidarity movement that currently brings together more than 2,000 solidarity associations in 154 countries has been created, Rabasa pointed out.
