Havana, Cuba.- Of the projects, 187 are in the sector of tourism, more than 100 in the oil sector and 108 in agri-food, with an estimated investment of 11.609 billion dollars, Malmierca said during the presentation of the portfolio at the 36th edition of Havana's International Trade Fair (FIHAV 2018).
The official stressed that among the fundamental objectives of the portfolio are the promotion of exports and production chains, as well as the substitution of imports.
Among the novelties in the portfolio, which has 45 projects in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM), he commented that the policy for the industrial sector is updated and that it is in tune with the axes and strategic sectors conceived in the foundations for the economic and social development of the country until 2030.
We include projects of high environmental impact, in line with Cuba's policy in that area, and prioritize the development of the territories, the minister added at the event that will conclude on Friday.
During an investment forum that took place in FIHAV, foreign investors assured that they carry out promising businesses in Cuba, in the ZEDM, under advantageous regulations and tax incentives, which facilitate access to the domestic market and exports.
Among the newly approved users are TGT Caribe S.A., from Spain, which will produce cheese and dairy products, and Vietnam's ViMariel, S.A., an infrastructure developer and first dealer in Mariel.
The Innovative Immunotherapy Alliance, S.A., a joint venture between Cuban and the US, conceived for the development of biotechnological products for the treatment of cancer, was also highlighted. (PL)
