7th International Clown Festival

The International Clown Festival, born in Las Tunas under the aegis of the Teatro Tuyo troupe, reaches its 7th edition and, as in its last chapter (and from now on), it is the sister province of Granma that hosts the event, between July 13th and the 16th.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The event, dedicated to the René Reyes (awarded the Maestro de Juventudes Prize), and the 30th birthday of clown Totó (Ariel Hernández), encourages the participation of actors from different Cuban territories; as well as teachers and students from various art academies.

The program is made up of theoretical spaces, artistic presentations, tours of the city, and other activities. On the agenda, the Las Tunas troupe occupies a significant place with different actions, including the presentation of the book How I Found My Clown that is Yours, by Ernesto Parra, by students of the National Clown School; the interactive workshop The Art of the Pantomime in the Clown; and the conference The alternations and the fragmentation of the movement in the clown art, both given by Papote (Ernesto Parra); and also, performances in different places.

Clowncierto is among the pieces to be shown

The plays Juegos Olimpiclown, Parque de Sueños, and Clowncierto, its most recent premiere, among other proposals, are shared on Granma land. Parallel to the face-to-face initiatives, international casts join the programming through social media; there are artists from Mexico and Ecuador, according to the La Papeleta website.

Among the main stages of the Festival, created and promoted by Teatro Tuyo, and sponsored by the National Council for the Performing Arts, are the clownbaret, in the Green House of the Latin American Theater, headquarters of Teatro Andante.
