Havana, Cuba.- The document, initialled during the First Session of the Business Committee, includes exchange of information, organization of business missions, participation in fairs and other modalities of exploration of the respective markets.
The Plan is aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations through direct exchange between companies, attracting Turkish investments in sectors of interest to both sides, boosting exports of Cuban products and services to Turkey and supplying products from the European country to the Caribbean, according to information released by the Cuban Chamber of Commerce.
The First Session of the Business Committee is held as part of an official visit to Cuba by a Turkish delegation, headed by the Vice Minister of Commerce, Gonca Yilmaz Batur. On the Cuban side, the Bilateral Business Committee is chaired by the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ileana Núñez, with the participation of directors of the Cuba Chamber of Commerce.
The fourth Cuba-Turkey follow-up meeting was held Tuesday to study the possibilities of a broader commercial exchange.
During the meeting's opening, Núñez stated that as part of Cuban policy is the diversification of trade partners, an indispensable factor for the boost of production chains, import substitution and increased exports, she said.
This meeting offers an opportunity to deepen the knowledge of the Turkish market and encourage business ties with potential in health, biotechnology and tourism, among others, she considered.
Vice Minister Gonca Yilmaz Batur agreed, because if thanks to the increase in bilateral trade a figure of 44 million dollars was reached late 2018, the potential indicates that this number could almost quintuple, she said.
The official said that for her country it is of great importance to strengthen relations with Cuba. (PL)
