UNTACD Secretary-General  Rebeca Grynspan will attend the G77 plus China Summit

The Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Rebeca Grynspan, will participate in the upcoming Summit of the Group of 77 plus China in Havana, the Cuban Foreign Ministry informed.

Havana, Cuba.- The event, to be held on September 15 and 16, will allow working together for the unity and decisive action of the countries of the South, to face present and future challenges.

Participants will discuss, among other topics, current development challenges focusing on the role of science, technology, and innovation, and the limitations of developing nations in accessing scientific and technical advances.

With 134 member states, the G-77+China represents 80% of the world’s population and more than two-thirds of the membership of the United Nations.

Since January of this year, Cuba assumed, for the first time, the pro tempore presidency of the Group with a commitment to advance the common interests of the South. (PL)
