Havana, Cuba.- "Our heroic people, led by their working class, across the country will give on May Day a new and massive demonstration of 'Unity, Commitment and Victory'," the President posted on Twitter.
He also highlighted the courage and resilience of the Cuban people in the face of increased aggressiveness by the US government against the island.
Díaz-Canel picked up a remark by the second secretary of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC, in Spanish)'s Central Committee José Ramón Machado Ventura at the closing ceremony on Wednesday of the 21st Congress of the Cuban Workers Federation to highlight national values.
Machado said: "Cuban people have learned in the fight that victory belongs to those who resist and fight; those who face the difficulties and dangers, those who do not get intimidated by the enemy, no matter how powerful it is," the head of State wrote.
At the closing ceremony of the workers' gathering, attended by Díaz-Canel and the first secretary of the PCC Central Committee Raúl Castro, Machado Ventura also said that Cubans have learned in the struggle that victory belongs to those who fight and resist. (PL)
