Díaz-Canel also noted he thanked Trudeau for his opposition to the controversial US law Helms Burton (effective since 1996), which intensifies the blockade imposed on the island, now with the activation of its Title III, enacted last May 2.

This section opens the possibility for US citizens to establish lawsuits before the courts of that country against persons or companies that "traffic" with a property nationalized -legally- by the Cuban Government after 1959.

In view of this measure, the Government of Canada has expressed its interest in defending the interests of Canadians who carry out legitimate business and investments with the largest of the Antilles. (PL)
