Havana, Cuba.- On its second and final day, among other actions, work will be carried out with unmanned aerial equipment and the protection of vessels against extreme natural phenomena.
The day before, Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel was at the headquarters of the National Civil Defense Staff (Emndc), located in this capital.
"In the morning we participated in the beginning of the meteor exercise in the Civil Defense Staff," the leader wrote on Twitter.
"Disaster reduction plans are pointed out and the experience reached in recent events are implemented," the president said in his message.
Months ago, Díaz-Canel evaluated the experience obtained during the recovery period after the tornado that hit Havana on Jan. 27.
This kind of sudden weather event must be incorporated into disaster reduction plans, Díaz-Canel said.
We must improve processes such as damage assessment, procedures and outlets of construction materials for sale for any contingency, said the head of State.
He praised the summons of students, the contribution of artists and the role of the press, also called to promote the use of social networks in cases like this.
If we're not on social networks at times like this, we're going to have them full of disinformation and arguments manipulated by the enemy, he warned.
The Meteor 2019 Civil Defense exercise - markedly popular and directed by the Emndc - is carried out with the objective of mitigating the damage to the economy and the population due to the effects of natural phenomena. (PL)
