Las Tunas, Cuba.- When a fire broke out in one of the gas tanks, the 12 members of the entity's brigade acted quickly in the containment of the flames, the cooling of a kerosene reservoir near the affected tank and in the aid of an injured partner in those tasks.
After the arrival of the Fire Department, the suffocation of the sinister assumption was achieved and the effectiveness of the provisions of the disaster reduction plan to preserve human life, the goods of the economy and the environment was demonstrated.
Ariel Santana Santiesteban, president of the Provincial Defense Council and other members of that structure, witnessed the practical demonstration that was the culmination of the Day of Fire Protection in Las Tunas, dedicated to strengthening the security system in the state and residential sectors.
Taking into account the behavior of rainfall in recent days, Elfio Martí Beatón, head of the Civil Defense in the territory, said that rains put the territory in a real context of health risk, hence the importance of confronting the Aedes aegypti mosquito, through the work of sanitation and tree pruning.
In this sense, the actions developed this Sunday in the Cederistas del Futuro childcare center, in the provincial capital, where the workers and the community joined efforts in the sanitation of the facility and its surroundings stand out.
A training program for the command structures, business directorates and other agencies of the Central State Administration was held yesterday in Las Tunas; they were also informed on the behavior of drought, the epidemiological situation and the forecasts of the hurricane season that begins on June 1st.
