Pescatun, Grand Prize of the 3rd Industry and Commerce Fair.

The Las Tunas Fishing Company (Pescatun) won the Grand Prize of the third edition of the Industry and Commerce Fair, which concluded on Sunday, with the presence of the main authorities of the Cuban Communist Party and the Government in the province and the main municipality. When presenting the award, the Organizing Committee highlighted the integrality in the economic management and projection of the entity, which has allowed it to take advantage of opportunities towards new commercial horizons.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The fair concluded with the accreditation of 120 companies from various Cuban provinces, as well as representatives from a dozen nations. During the three days in the Las Tunas Hotel areas, 806 letters of intent and 175 contracts were signed, deals that would involve state and non-state economic actors.

“We are pleased that our objectives for this edition have been met by enhancing dialogue in the search for new markets, new investments, and greater national and international collaboration,” said Jaime Ernesto Chiang Vega, the governor, in the concluding remarks of the forum. “This plaza has also served us to put to the consideration of our people everything we are capable of doing to develop,” he said. In his farewell, he left open the call for the fourth Industry and Commerce Fair, to be held in 2024.

At the closing ceremony, mentions were given to four relevant companies for their comprehensive progress during the year: Agroint, and the small entities Durkal, Cepwar, and Muebles Villazul. Also, special recognition was given to the representation of the municipalities of Las Tunas, Majibacoa, and “Jesús Menéndez,” in that order, for the initiatives, creativity, and exhibition samples displayed.

The municipalities deserved recognition

Of particular congratulation were community projects that showed their work during these days: the Charles Ingram (“Jesús Menéndez”), Del Caribe Soy y a Manatí Vengo (Manatí), and the Las Tunas Community Route and Zabaleando. All of them are outstanding for rescuing traditions and keeping cultural memory alive. Likewise, foreign businessmen who opted to do business in the Balcón de Oriente were embraced.

For their part, other organizations and institutions delivered their own awards. The Standardization Office awarded the Product Quality Award to the bedroom set exhibited by LUDEMA Furniture; The Cuban Association of Social Communicators granted theirs to the Avalon Producciones enterprise and the Las Tunas Post Office Company. The Award for best stand design, by the Provincial Center of Plastic Arts, went to the one presented jointly by Tabacuba and Tecnoazúcar. While the Las Tunas-Holguín Delegation Chamber of Commerce commended the Metal Structures Company (METUNAS).

Likewise, the University of Las Tunas presented its Prosperidad 2023 awards, in that order to Tecnoazúcar, Durkal, and Avalon. The Delegation of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) also recognized the French Association Friends of Las Tunas for its 20 years of uninterrupted work in favor of solidarity between the French region of Brittany and the Land of Vicente García.

The Union of Cuban Journalist was recognized.
