“I am proud to be an electrical worker; I feel proud because, despite the difficulties, we try to make things go well each year. I am on the side of the dissatisfied ones; those who try to make everything go as planned,” Roger Rodríguez Moro, an operator of the Tunas 110 KB Substation with 44 years of service in the sector, told 26 when we approached to congratulate him on Electrical Worker's Day.

Those who work in this important sector of society made many sacrifices and celebrated their achievements during 2023; a year marked by challenges and growth for the workers of the Power Company of the province, which not only grew as an institution but also in terms of human and work relationships.

The most outstanding base business units during this period deserved recognition, as well as the workers who excelled the most in their tasks. In addition, the Cuban Workers' Union presented the Ñico López Distinction to José Isidro Aguilar Ávila for his work of more than 20 uninterrupted years within the sector, who serves as head of security and protection.

“This award increases my commitment to the organization and the country, to the population for which we work. In my duties, I look for ways to prevent criminal acts from occurring, besides searching for results so that the country's economy is not affected. This makes the satisfaction of belonging to the electricity sector increase every day.”

As the culmination of the activity, the new generations and workers in their fifties were also recognized. Pastor Leonardo Leyva Alch, is one of those men who put all their effort into his work, with 56 years of experience within the Electric Company. “I didn't expect such a big recognition, I thought it was going to be something smaller, they took me by surprise.

“It has been years of coming and going, with the help of the rearguard, they are the most important thing we have: family, friends, and co-workers, with their support, we can overcome every obstacle.”
