Havana, Cuba.- At the meeting at the Capitolio in Havana, the legislative body's headquarters, both showed their willingness to continue strengthening ties between the two countries that had been in force since May 19, 1979, according to Prensa Latina.
Lazo thanked the Gambian Assembly for the creation last May of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, which will strengthen relations.
Tangara had an earlier meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez as part of his official visit to the Caribbean nation.
Official data indicate that for more than two decades Cuba has had a medical brigade in The Gambia, currently made up of more than 100 doctors, medical professors and health care personnel, and bilateral cooperation also covers the agricultural sector.
The West African nation maintains a position against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba. (ACN)
