United Nations.- The president of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado, expressed the need for the end of the U.S. blockade, which has done so much damage to the Caribbean country.

Namibia's president, Hage Geingob, regretted he regression in "the thaw of relations between Cuba and the United States, which we witnessed a few years ago."

For this reason, he added, "we renew the call to lift the obsolete blockade against Cuba," he stressed.

The president of Chad, Idriss Deby Itno, also advocated for the lifting of this hostile policy "unjustly imposed on Cuba that harms its people."

Another condemnation of the unilateral coercive measures came from the Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani.

"U.S. government officials take pride in such pressures and addictively use sanctions against countries such as Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, China and Russia," he said.

Since 1992, the U.N. General Assembly has passed 27 resolutions calling on the U.S. government to end its policy of blockade against Cuba, without any conditions.

After taking office, President Donald Trump changed the Cuba policies approved by the Barack Obama administration and resumed the hostile policy towards Caribbean island with the intensification of punitive measures against companies, banks, reinstating travel restrictions and reducing the amount of remittances, among other actions.
