The Cuban tourism product presentation caravan begins this Sunday in this capital and continues on its annual tour of several cities in Italy.

Rome.- The opening day will take place at the embassy of the Caribbean island in this country and will culminate in Rimini, where the Antillean delegation will participate in the 56th International Tourism Fair (TTG), to be held from October 9 to 11 in that city of the Adriatic coast, in the region of Emilia-Romagna.

Along with directors of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, the delegation is formed by representatives of the hotel chains Cubanacán, Islazul, Gran Caribe, Sol Meliá, Iberostar, Blue Diamond and Muthu, as well as receptive agencies and Italian tour operators.

Madelen González-Pardo, Tourism Counselor at the Cuban Embassy in Italy, told Prensa Latina that after the presentation in Rome, the delegation will move to Salerno, a port city located southeast of Naples.

Then it will visit Foggia, capital of the province of the same name in the region of Apulia, also to the south, and finally Pescara, in the region of Abruzzo, before leaving for Rimini, where the first vice-minister of Tourism, Luis Miguel Díaz, will join the delegation.

In all the places where the caravan will pass and up to the Rimini Fair, explained González-Pardo, we will promote "the news of our product, since Cuba is not only sun and beach," it is also nature, joy, history, culture, tobacco, rum, and above all its people.

"Cuba is an ideal destination for the Italian and any customer to spend their vacation," added the official, who noted that Italy is among the top 10 countries that send tourists to the island, with a total of 103,235 at the end of September this year.

In this regard, she recalled that in 2018 there were 147,900 Italian tourists who visited the island.

In this sense, she pointed out that the decrease responds to the withdrawal of the cruise modality due to the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for almost 60 years and to the general increase of hostility of the current government of that country presided by Donald Trump.
