Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez met on Wednesday with Patriarch Kirill on the third and last day of his working visit to the Russian capital.

Moscow.- The Cuban head of State conveyed to the Patriarch greetings from the first secretary of the Communist Party, Army General Raúl Castro, and evoked his meeting with Kirill during his visit to Russia in 2018.

During the meeting, held in the Danilov Monastery, Díaz-Canel described as symbolic the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Havana, where the Russian Orthodox Cathedral stands out in the city's historic heart.

Patriarch Cyril or Kirill, whose secular name is Vladimir Mikhailovich Gundiayev, is the sixteenth Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, the current head of the Russian Orthodox Church, who has warm relations with authorities and the people of Cuba.

On Tuesday, Díaz-Canel had a busy agenda of meetings with Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev at the Government's Protocol Palace, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the Novo Ogariovo Residence, on the outskirts of Moscow.

He also visited the Zariadie Park and met separately with Russian businesspeople and Cuban residents in this nation.

Díaz-Canel's working visit to Russia is part of a European tour that also included Ireland, Belarus and Azerbaijan. (PL)
