The Casa del Escritor (Writer House) was established in the municipality of Colombia in December of last year. The dream of creators such as Luis Mariano Estrada Segura, members of the Dalgis Muñiz literary workshop, and other lovers of literature in that southern territory has come true.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- The institution, with the support of the Provincial Center for Book and Literature and the Municipal Directorate of Culture, promotes the work of new and established talents, in and out of the locality.
The House hosts some fixed spaces every month. Its program includes Narrating is Learning to Tell, which runs on Mondays. Also Poetry of Good Music and Symbiosis, every first Saturday and Sunday, respectively; while the second Between Letters and Tunes and Cinema of the Book are developed, in that order, among other activities.
In conversation with 26, Estrada Segura, a coordinator and promoter, commented: "This is a place where literature and other forms of art meet. A place appropriate to appreciate, create, debate, and reflect, using prose as a starting point and a ramp. In the same way, it is an area for transmitting and appropriating knowledge and recreational activities."
The center injects life into the municipal culture, as it promotes—to a great extent—the work of authors and contributes to inspiring different generations of writers, who dream of leaving a mark for posterity.
