Melissa Clothing Company manufactures protective masks and other items for health personnel

The Melissa Clothing base business unit (UEB), from Las Tunas, has made the greatest contribution from the Boga National Clothing Company that demands Public Health in its fight against COVID-19, from the workshops located in this city, " Jesús Menéndez,” Puerto Padre, Jobabo and “Colombia."

Given the emergency, Melissa was the first to assume this task in the territory. Six thousand 600 pajamas for patients and some 350 thousand masks have come out of the hands of their collective, with 70 percent women; these, even made with cuttings from the guarandol fabric, which have worked in green and white.

Ana América Escalona, head of the Business Group, reported that such means of protection were distributed in health institutions that combat the new coronavirus in Havana, Ciego de Ávila, Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey and the Eastern Balcony.

She said that in the current stage they make more than 21,650 coats for medical personnel and the same number of sanitary caps, while the sewing workshops will continue working in six localities in Las tunas until it is necessary, taking into account the exceptional situation the country is experiencing.
