Las Tunas, Cuba.- Executives of the cultural sector, friends, family and their public, welcomed the actors at the Teatro Tuyo cultural center (its headquarters), located in the Buena Vista neighborhood, about three kilometers from the historic center of Las Tunas city.
The Onilé folk company and other artists dedicated their talent to the defenders of the clown art. Alberto Carlos Estrada, a specialist of the Performing Arts, also expressed the importance of their work for the local and Cuban Culture, in a general sense.
Estrada affirmed that "during their 20 years on stage, they deserved several awards such as Villanueva of the Critics, Adolfo Llauradó in performing and Caricato. Besides, the most important thing for them is the recognition of the public, inside and outside the province. That makes them great."
On the journey through European lands, Ernesto Parra, leader of Teatro Ttuyo, said: "It was a new experience, because the performances always took place in squares and parks, which we are not used to. It was challenging to make a version of Superbandaclown in those spaces, but we came out with flying colors. We were in cities in Sweden and Denmark; we participated in festivals and received a good reception. We had two performances with Gris (Gray) and the public reaction was fabulous.
"In addition, working with Batida Theater group was helpful, as we learned from one of the most prestigious companies in Europe, in a country with more than 200 professional groups in this artistic expression, all them at a very high level. We appreciate their hospitality that triples our energies to continue working. There are contact points between that group and ours, since their headquarters are not in the center of Copenhagen, but on a periphery, like ours. They have kept their theater there for 35 years, where there is a high rate of immigrants from several countries, and with free tickets every week."
Teatro Tuyo Theater group will achieve other successes such as the opening here of the National Clown School, on September 9th. The director said that "we also started the staging of two plays. Moreover, we started a work in Denmark; it is about Ghost, whose script and staging are sponsored by Soren Valente Ovesen, actor and director of Batida Theater, our Danish colleagues. We also want to premier La Casa de Papote (Papote's House), and we will attend the Havana International Theater Festival with the play ¡¡Pum!!! Likewise, we will continue working on the reopening of the Teatro Tuyo cultural center."
