Las Tunas, Cuba.- The school is sponsored by the Teatro Tuyo troupe and the Artistic Teaching Department of the Education Directorate in the territory.
During the two and a half years that the training of the actors will last, the nine students that make up this first course will receive 14 subjects each school period. Moreover, Ernesto Parra, leader of "Teatro Tuyo" and one of the main developers of this project said that "this is a very broad curriculum that covers circus modalities, pantomime, acting, puppet animation and sleight of hand."
In the opening ceremony, which took place in the Teatro Tuyo Cultural Center with the presence of the highest authorities of the province, leaders of the Culture sector, and representatives of the teaching staff - also integrated by professors from other provinces - gave the students a clown nose, as a symbol of the sense of belonging towards their vocation.
Nurys Cantallops, director of El Cucalambé Professional Art School (EPA by its Spanish acronym) gave the main speech in which she highlighted the importance of the realization of this dream for the local and Cuban culture.
She said that "our beloved city loves and respects the beautiful art of Ernesto Parra and his team, who with their languages cleanse us and transforms the soul. With Clown Teaching our school grows both in the development of its processes and in the spiritual."
For his part, the director of the theater group thanked the EPA for the opportunity, because in addition to some classes that will be held there, that institution supports with accommodation and food, which makes the best functioning of the teaching center possible.

Although most of the students of the National Clown School are from Las Tunas province, some of them are from Granma and Guantánamo.
Yalexis Castro Estévez integrated for two years a project of living statues in the easternmost province of Cuba. Today, he is among those chosen for this inaugural course. The student said that "it is a great opportunity in life and I plan to take advantage of it. Once I saw a performing of Teatro Tuyo, I felt that they gave me many beautiful feelings, I want to impact the audience like them."
Eylín Yudenia Lara Aguilera, a student from this province, said that "it is a privilege to be part of such a project. There are people who think that making people laugh is easy, but it is not like that, it matters a lot how you address the message so that the public could feel what you do, I hope to do my best and achieve that in the audience."
Meanwhile, Luis Carlos Pérez Cedeño, who came from Bayamo, said that "I am excited. I have always liked children, so I was a teacher in an elementary school. My love for theater also led me to work at Teatro Andante, but not in a professional way. Today, I aspire to be a good clown."
Betsy María Pérez Pla, from the host city, expressed that "I want to go inside people's feelings for them to like my work and this school gives me that possibility." Besides, her classmate from the same city, Helen Leonardo Rondón said that "it is a great opportunity because we must keep the art of clown high."

Likewise, Dayana Leonardo Portillo expressed that "it is a vocation that deserves sacrifice, but it is also enjoyed. His classmate, Denis Portillo Rodríguez, both from Las Tunas said that "we will fight to make our dreams come true and always think of the public."
Ernesto Parra explained that, due to the extensive comprehensive training that enhances this school initiative, its enrollment must never exceed 10 students. However, for future academic calendars, it is thought that there will be more representativeness of other provinces and countries since applications are already coming in that show interest in studying in this novel center in Cuba.
