Baire Cartaya is a young representative of the Plastic Arts who loves creating. His paintings have cheered different rooms in Las Tunas, which are distinguished by various themes and techniques. However, he never develops his work alone. It is part of the work carried out in the province by the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade, an organization to which he has been linked through management positions for 10 calendars and of which he is the president a year ago.

In the context of the celebrations for its 15th anniversary, we talked about the main results and challenges of the guild in the territory.
"We are proud to have achieved the National Category of the music-dance group named Impact that was awarded by the National Council of Culture Houses. We also obtained three national prizes in the contest Where the Palm Grows. Our participation in the Cucalambeana Day is highlighted and the delivery of the Distinction 15th Anniversary to personalities such as Anais Ray and institutions that have supported us a lot.
"We have to professionally grow as a main challenge, because we aspire to acquire a scientific category at the height of our time, with a task that favors the Cuban cultural policy. We must work more in the communities, because we are well linked to people there. In these spaces, as in schools, we defend the objective that, in addition to forming talents in artistic manifestations, we must cultivate values.
He recognizes as one of the factors that undermine the best performance of his group, the understanding by some managers of the social function of the art instructor, especially in student campuses. "In addition to the fact that each of us needs to understand our roles, it is necessary that managers and those around us do so in the places where we work. Sometimes we perform tasks in schools that do not belong to us. Then, we lose time and it generates confusion and disappointment."
Despite the fact that several art instructors have rejoined the guild since the salary increase, the exodus still remains a concern for the organization, even though the province is not known as the most notorious in this regard.
"More than a thousand young people have left the brigade. The causes can be diverse, but economic interest predominates, especially the search for monetary options in the self-employed sector and market attempts.
He said that "we are also affected by the fact that, as the School of Art Instructors of Las Tunas was closed five years ago, those interested in the major must go to the province of Granma to study. Nevertheless, there are not so many people from Las Tunas who are currently trained there, that affects the renewal of our ranks."
Despite this, it is very important for him to make more visible the work of around 600 members of that brotherhood in the province, who work with love despite the ups and downs that may arise along the way. In general, the municipalities of Jesús Menéndez, Manatí and Puerto Padre stand out.
"This work ennobles us and makes us better people. It is gratifying to see how many children we advise, participate in classrooms, get prizes, and improve their skills. Then, they are interested in studying at El Cucalambé Professional Art School, in this city ", said Cartaya, one of the three members with the Special Recognition Distinction, granted by the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade.
