October 20: Cuban Culture Day
Cubans celebrate Cuban Culture Day on Sunday to commemorate October 20, 1868, the date in which Cuba's National Anthem was sung for the first time. The Day of Cuban Culture also celebrates the date when the "mambí" or Cuban independence army under the command of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes freed the eastern city of Bayamo.
Provincial Library Honors Cuban Culture Day
The collective of the José Martí provincial library, in Las Tunas, carries out several activities, including exhibitions and book presentations in the advent of the Cuban Culture Day that was held last October 20th.
