The children's care houses are a solution to address the capacity deficit in childcare centers

With the inauguration of the Granito de Canela Children's Care House at the Eliécer Botello School, in the community of Calixto, in the municipality of Majibacoa, Las Tunas reaches eleven facilities of this type and already has this service in all of its municipalities.

The center hosts 30 infants and represents an option for professional childcare for this age group and benefits working families.

Maudelín Gutiérrez Pavón and María del Carmen Pérez Santiesteban, mothers from the pedagogical and electrical sectors, are among those who are satisfied with this system, which is based on the work of two educators and the same number of assistants. "They are well taken care of, with affection, respect and, above all, with the education that our children deserve," said Gutiérrez Pavón, who works at the Elementary School.

Recently, another children's care house was inaugurated at the Eliades Ávila Primary School in the community of San Antonio, in the municipality of Jobabo, the first of its kind in a rural area of the province.

Ladisleidys Ramos Pérez, a young health professional, appreciated the idea of offering parents a way to perform well at work. "It is of great benefit to me because, now, I can leave my daughter well cared for and take care of my patients with greater peace of mind," she said.
In this facility, Eva Santiesteban, one of the educators, explained that they take care of children from the second to the fifth year of life, an activity that they carry out with the help of four assistants.

Better efficiency and greater productive, social, and economic performance in the institutions where these educational and care centers are located are among the benefits of the program, which can be promoted for any entity that has the will, as well as the capacity to allocate funds for the opening, maintenance, and guarantee the sustainability of the project.

These centers work with the teaching-learning methodology of the Childcare Centers, an initiative that is gaining momentum in Las Tunas, and bearing its first fruits; but it requires greater growth to meet the demand of working families.
