ETECSA's Science and Technology Forums has an impact on key areas of the Company's work

Its annual nature does not detract from the value of the Science and Technology Forum of the Division in this eastern Cuban province of the Telecommunications Company of Cuba S.A. (ETECSA in Spanish); an event that persists in its commitment to encourage collective ingenuity in the face of obstacles.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Far from losing its value in recent years, the event has increased its relevance, in line with the worsening of the country's economic conditions. These shortages have been felt with particular severity in the telecommunications sector, traditionally linked to the importation of new technologies, as well as parts and pieces for their maintenance. The 67 papers presented in this 2023 edition were aimed precisely at making up for these shortcomings.

The solutions have an impact on key areas of the Company's work, said Antonio Reyes Borges, a specialist in Science and Technology of the Territorial Division itself. He listed: commercial; control and transmission; energy and air-conditioning; outside plant; wireless access and private boards; information technologies; and automotive transportation and services. They are, added Reyes Borges, the result of similar events held in each of the telecommunications centers; and the best ones will be presented later at the national event to be held in the coming months.

ETECSA's Science and Technology Forum in Las Tunas

Beyond the results of the Forum, the specialist stressed, its value lies in the solved problems in each of the aspects of our work, thus resulting in the provision of better services.

Except for the pause forced by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, Etecsa's Science and Technology Forums have not ceased to be held for at least the last 10 years, constituting an important source of solutions to the daily problems of an entity hard hit by the restrictions imposed on Cuba by the U.S. economic blockade, also in access to telecommunications, computer, and electronic technologies.
