Las Tunas, Cuba.- A modern smart classroom has been installed in this school to improve the teaching of the different subjects since the upcoming school year.
Rebeca Ávila Álvarez, head of the Department of Educational Technology of the Provincial Directorate of Education in Las Tunas, told the Cuban News Agency that an interactive board, 15 electronic tablets, a laptop, A projector and a wireless connection antenna (Wifi), are among the benefits of the classroom that will be fully operational after the assistance of the staff of the Chinese company where the equipment was acquired.
The executive explained that the objective is the creation of learning environments by students, especially in the subjects of natural sciences, in which through audios, photos, videos, and other technological resources, they can access in an interactive way to the contents of the subjects, without forgetting the essence and need of the teacher in front of the classroom.
Ávila Álvarez pointed out that it is the third classroom of this type that is installed in educational institutions of the province. All are destined to achieve greater quality in the development of the teaching staff and students. Nevertheless, in the Ipvce, it is mainly focused to the preparation of students integrated into the Training Center for national and international competitions of knowledge.
Together with nine other Pre-university Vocational Institutes Exact Sciences of the country, the "Luis Urquiza Jorge" was favored with this technology for the results that it has maintained in national and international knowledge competitions for more than six years, in addition to the State of Outstanding Province in Education, for compliance with the main indicators of quality, efficiency and administration.
The official added that the technological, intelligent or virtual classroom, as it is also known, will be connected to the CubaEduca network, in order to access a general repository of the contents of each of the subjects, and the preparations for entering to Higher Education.
In addition, this new classroom is part of an interconnection process that began in this institution with the computerization of the School Secretariat, a service that allows students, families and teachers the access to academic results and the main information derived from this department, such as part of the projections of the province in the electronic Government.
The Luis Urquiza Jorge Ipvce, from Las Tunas, is recognized as the most prominent at the national level in national knowledge competitions and international contests. This school intends strengthening the preparation of its students with revolutionary methods such as the establishment of these technologies and increases the number of students that enter the classrooms from 180 to 300 in each new school period.
