Fabio di Celmo, the young Italian victim of a terrorist attack at the Copacabana Hotel in Havana on September 4th, 1997, is remembered with a tribute ceremony before his grave, organized by the Italy-Cuba National Friendship Association (ANAIC).

Genoa, Italy.- The commemoration is carried out by the Association of Genoa Foresti-De Vena Circle, and will take place in the cemetery of Arenzano, Genoa, where the remains of the European businessman who lost his life due to the injuries caused by the blast of a bomb placed in the lobby of the Cuban hotel, in an attack organized by Luis Posada Carriles, rests.

"The National Association of Friendship Italy-Cuba has always supported the people and the government of Cuba in the condemnation of every form of terrorism and in the incessant request for extradition of the well-known terrorist Posada Carriles, who died at 90 in 2018, without paying for his horrendous crimes," said Irma Dioli, president of one of the oldest organizations of solidarity with the Cuban Revolution in Europe.

"This day, she said, we will pay tribute too to Fabio's father, Giustino Di Celmo, a great friend of Cuba, who died without obtaining justice for the death of his son."

At the Copacabana Hotel there will be a ceremony in remembrance of Di Celmo and his father, in front of the plaque that perpetuates his memory, within the initiative We Have Memory,  against the blockade and terrorism, organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP). The homage will mark the opening of an intense program of activities until next October, when the 43rd anniversary of the Barbados crime will be commemorated and a new vote will take place at the United Nations Organization of the Cuban resolution against the blockade.

Since July 2008 Las Tunas annually honors the young Italian through an infantile soccer cup, named after him, jointly sponsored by the Lombardy's ANAIC circles, the Sports Department of Las Tunas and the Provincial Delegation of ICAP. The tournament aims to promote the practice of football in the eastern province, while it is another recreational activity for children. After the death of his father, in September 2015, the event took its current name, "Giustino-Fabio Di Celmo."
