Caracas.- I am joined by emotional ties that are born in coverage of issues related to his tireless management work in the northern municipality of Manatí, and human relations based on work are imperishable, so the reunion in Caribia City, Capital District of Venezuela, was a pleasant surprise.
Despite the years that have passed, Wily is still the same person, "he is always willing to take on any task, guides, organizes, socializes knowledge, and is very enterprising," these are expressions that I heard in areas of a construction that under his watch is transformed to –by his own words- "take good care of the collaborators who arrive here."
He undertakes restoration and adaptation works with proven experiences. He says that "this is my second mission," and recalls that he came to Bolívar's homeland for the first time after the Vargas landslide, in 2012. "It caused excessive damage to people and their homes; from this situation, the great Venezuela Housing Mission was created," and he arrived with more than 200 Cuban builders to work in the state of Anzoátegui, where he remained for four years.
He tells me that "we accomplished the task, and now I am here integrated to the Cuban medical mission, as coordinator of the transit villages of Ciudad Caribia." From the great elevation in which we are, he points out the impressive image of that beautiful urbanization that almost touches the clouds, while he says that "this is one of Chávez's dreams that came true."
He speaks to me and at times, the conversation is truncated, because some of the builders or managers of the work request him, he responds to the call and then follows the dialogue. He tells me what they are doing, "the execution of this villa had been paralyzed for about eight years, at the 85 percent, and currently, he says, we are adapting the premises. We are going to build, in addition, four-bath complex, four capacities for women and six for men and an establishment for lingerie. We plan to create 120 new facilities; a restaurant with 20 tables; a kitchen with all the technology; a nursing room with two beds and the services that Primary Health Care demands, in any situation that can be presented. Moreover: a site for recreation; outdoor spaces with green areas; and living and parking places, which will significantly improve comfort during the stay here."
The actions also take into account Venezuelans that assist the guests, who will dispose of their own rooms and bathrooms; and the Cubans who permanently provide services, who will have a house with three rooms and other amenities."
Those who go or return from their vacations in the Homeland and those who arrive for the first time stop-off in the village. In this place, the first and the last meeting with Venezuela take place, and for almost 72 hours Wily is an exceptional witness of his moods. "Those who arrive for the first time come with the expectations of contributing with their knowledge and their level of preparation. On the other hand, the ones who return show a mixture of emotion and pain to leave the place they were occupying. It is very moving to hear the stories of the places where they have been doing their duty, in Delta Macuro, in Los Cayos, Amazonas, in the intricate neighborhoods, and the demonstrations of gratitude they are given."
Through his experiences, he is convinced that Venezuelans will continue to count on the support of Cubans so that the flags of the Bolivarian Revolution and the freedom of its people so besieged by imperialism are held high.
