Every effort made for the technological improvements of the sugar mills, based on investments and repair of the machinery, must go hand in hand with the training of human capital.

It would not be good to get the machinery going if those in charge of operating them do not dominate them properly. That is why the training of the workforce must be seen as a very important factor within the set of actions that are undertaken before and during the development of the harvest, by virtue of achieving the final objective: to fulfill the sugar production plan with efficiency and quality.
The idea is to devise a comprehensive work system that clearly defines the need to move forward in business organization, until a harmonious balance is reached between technological development and the preparation of human resources, as they have been doing at the Majibacoa Sugar Mill.
That good experience, on the rise for some campaigns, that must be extended to the rest of the sugar mills and, above all, to Colombia Sugar Mill. This is needed because after several years of productive inactivity, it lost a good part of its technical force and now depends largely on novel workers and specialists of the Amancio Rodríguez Sugar Mill, a sugar mill that will not intervene in the next campaign.
Las Tunas is already looking for a substantial increase in sugar production compared to the previous harvest, but that jump not only relies on timely and quality repairs, but also on the subsequent performance of each chief, technician, specialist and worker.
That is why, I consider that training should be seen as a process that takes place throughout the year and, in practice, exceeds by a wide margin the official number of agro-industrial workers - now totaling 419 - selected by the Human Recess departments to Receive the planned courses, seminars and conferences, based on the diagnosis of training needs.
To achieve such purpose, the head of each area must assume the role of instructor. Besides, he must be aware of what each of his workers does and could immediately correct any fault or bungling. This exercise must become a training action, which avoids the lost time due to breakage and bad operation.
The objective of the training is to achieve in the workers and the new ones the habits of conduct that propitiate a greater efficiency in the performance of their functions. Then, it is valid every action of the sugar mills in terms of getting involved in the task leaders, technicians, specialists and even retirees, with the ability to contribute to such an important effort.
It is necessary to work with the maxim that high grinds and sweet productions cannot be achieved in accordance with what is established for each day, if there is no competent industry and with professionally and technically trained workers and leaders, especially in the most complex and decisive positions in the sugar mills.
It is a reality that, due to its importance, the direction of human capital, both in the company and in the base business units, must follow closely by putting the local sugar agribusiness in a position to respond promptly to the fact of making the 2019-2020 harvest superior and more efficient.
