Many Flowers, Camilo Photo: Rey López

The sun was not yet fully awake, nor did the dew drops that cover the poppies dry when Lian Rafael asked, again and again, to her mother, that she goes down to look for the flowers. It is October 28 and their little hands have to reach the first-grade classroom full of poppies, roses, lilies and even the little "forget-me-not" for Camilo Cienfuegos, the Hero of Yaguajay.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Today all pioneers, in a special way, pay homage to his memory; even the small preschoolers, who still do not wear the blue scarf. Rivers and sea are filled again with the colors of domestic gardens. The city dawns with national love, the smell of Sierra Maestra and remembrances of the sea.

There are human roads everywhere. It is a meeting that speaks of virile bonds, of smiles to remind the friend of the wide-brimmed hat and to conjure him again in the flag. Because the worker, the young man, the peasant also join to the homage. People and heart, as it has always been. It is the dawn of the "Lord of the Hundred Fires," the "Lord of the Vanguard."
