
Havana, Cuba.- With an ever-growing spiral in its editions, the event represents a symbol of Cuban economic development and openness to the world of trade. There is a chronology of the event below.
-1983, Ibero-American Fair of Industry and Commerce (FEDEICO). Inaugurated in the Conventions Palace of Havana, at the beginning it had that name and was held from November 15 to 18 with 97 foreign and 11 national firms.
-1984, 2nd Havana International Fair. Also in the Palace of Conventions, from November 4 to 7 with more than 250 exhibitors from seven countries, and Spain the most represented nation.
-1985, 3rd FIHAV. From October 28 to November 2, at the Havana Convention Center, with 699 exhibitors from 12 countries.
-1986, 4th FIHAV. From November 1 to 7 with 687 exhibitors from 17 countries.
-1987, 5th FIHAV. The Pabexpo fairground is inaugurated, attended by 20 countries with an exhibition area of 6,529 square meters and 1,318 attendees. For the first time, the Gold Medal is established.
-1988, 6th FIHAV. It continues at Pabexpo, on that occasion with 139 exhibitors from 22 countries and 244 nationals in an area of 6,459 square meters.
- 1989, 7th FIHAV. It is inaugurated in what would be the definitive exhibition area, Expocuba, on the outskirts of the capital. Commercial results of 174 million dollars are highlighted. There are 826 exhibitors from 29 countries.
-1990, 8th FIHAV. From October 28 to November 4, the exhibition is held with 8,668 square meters and 1,742 businessmen from 29 countries.
-1991, 9th FIHAV. There are 24 countries represented by 1,146 exhibitors.
-1992, 10th FIHAV. This edition takes place from November 1st to 8th with the presence of 32 countries represented by 2,016 exhibitors; Cuba stands out with a total of 3,372 square meters.
-1993, 11th FIHAV. It takes place from October 31st to November 7th, with 1,872 businessmen from 45 countries, in a total exhibition area of 14,122 square meters and Cuban participation has an area of 6,680 square meters.
-1994, 12th FIHAV. There are representatives from more than 40 countries and Cuba is present with 260 companies.
-1995, 13th FIHAV. It opened its doors with the presence of 1,700 exhibitors from 52 nations from Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa, a record number since 1983.
-1996, 14th FIHAV. There were eight days of exhibition with a result of 153 business contracts for 35 million dollars. One thousand 510 firms of 60 countries in an area of 60,000 square meters.
-1997, 15th FIHAV. More than 1,800 exhibitors from 61 countries.
-1998, 16th FIHAV. Attended by representatives from 75 countries, 15 more than the previous year.
-1999, 17th FIHAV. The participation and attractiveness of the biggest Cuban commercial exchange grows.
-2000, 18th FIHAV. In this opportunity, it gathered 63 countries, in that year it was reported the agreement of 380 businesses with the presence of foreign companies. About 2,000 firms, 500 of them Cuban.
-2001, 19th FIHAV. There are 1,200 companies from 60 nations.
-2002, 20th FIHAV. Attended by more than 1,000 companies from 58 countries, besides 500 Cuban firms.
-2003, 21rt FIHAV. More than 1,300 companies -900 foreign and 407 Cuban- from 49 countries participate (November 2 to 9).
-2004, 22nd FIHAV. More than 1,000 companies from 40 countries (November 1 to 7) occupy 20 pavilions and 10,000 square meters.
-2005, 23rd FIHAV. Two thousand firms from 42 countries participated. Dozens of contracts for more than 400 million dollars were achieved with the United States (food), Canada, Japan and France, among other countries.
-2006, 24th FIHAV. 750 companies from 43 nations and 290 Cuban women participate, with more than 10,000 square meters of exhibition, only 2,000 square meters for Cuban products. A greater presence of China, Spain and Russia.
-2007, 25th FIHAV. Attended by 53 countries, all the pavilions of the fair are occupied, it is a big fair and there are more than 400 foreign businessmen. From November 5 to 10 at the Expocuba fairgrounds.
-2008, 26th FIHAV. In 2008, more than two thousand businessmen from 56 nations attended the fair despite the US measures against Cuba and the onslaught of hurricanes such as Ike and Gustav was very attractive. Spain, Canada, China, Italy, Panama and Germany were the countries with the greatest presence. Cuba had more than 300 companies, from 21 economic sectors.
-2009, 27th FIHAV. This edition was attended by representatives of firms from 53 countries and 49 Chambers of Commerce and Industries.
-2010, 28th FIHAV. 45 countries participated in the exhibition. Venezuela arrives at the event leading the members of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty.
-2011, 29th FIHAV. This meeting will be held from October 31 to November 5.
-2012, 30th FIHAV. Under the slogan 'Havana International Fair, 30 years at the service of trade.' From November 4 to 9. More than 350 national companies participated, in an area of 5,000 square meters. More than 3,000 exhibitors from 67 countries participated.
-2013, 31st FIHAV. From November 3 to 9. 1,400 companies from 65 nations participated, including 24 from Latin America and the Caribbean, for 25 pavilions. An exhibition area of 23,000 square meters, of which 18, 300 were occupied by foreign participation.
-2014, 32nd FIHAV. From November 3 to 9.
-2015, 33rd FIHAV. From November 2 to 7, with the presence of delegations from more than 70 countries.
-2016, 34th FIHAV. From October 31st to November 4th. Covered an exhibition area of 29, 000 square meters. The first Investment Forum is held.
-2017, 35th FIHAV. From October 30 to November 3. 70 countries participate, 3,400 exhibitors, in 27,000 square meters, 2nd Investment Forum takes place, presenting the new portfolio of opportunities.
-2018, 36th FIHAV. From October 29 to November 2. At the fair, recognized as one of the leading commercial spaces in the region, more than 3,000 exhibitors from 65 countries participated this year, showing their products and services at the Expocuba center.
-2019, 37th FIHAV. Delegations from more than 50 countries, as well as 360 Cuban firms, will participate in the 37th edition, from November 4 to 8, in Expocuba. Fourteen official delegations, headed by ministers and high-ranking officials, have been confirmed.
