The awarding of this unique prize was announced on Sunday during the last day of the 14th State Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, which has been holding since last Friday in this city of the northern region of the Basque Country.

In a resolution adopted by its over 200 participants, the event awarded El País for being the Spanish newspaper with more merits accumulated in the art of slandering, manipulating and distorting news and information against Cuba and its Revolution.

This is the second recognition granted by the solidarity movement with Cuba, since in 2015 such a 'honor' was granted to the ultra-conservative ABC newspaper.

The ABC newspaper has fallen, after a documented process of selection of nominations for such a disgraceful award.

Not even the injection of capital from foreign investment groups, could repair and compensate for the embarrassment of continued scams which had adverse effects for readers, subscribers and even publicity. (PL)
