Speech by Miguel M. Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic of Cuba, at the closing of the Anti-Imperialist Solidarity Conference, For Democracy and Against Neoliberalism, at Havana's Convention Center, November 3, 2019

President Miguel Díaz-Canel assured Sunday that Cuba will always welcome those who defend peace and solidarity and called for an end to the lies wielded by imperialism to dominate the peoples of the world.

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said that the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean are rising up against savage capitalism.

Gail Walker, executive director of the U.S.-based Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO)-Pastors for Peace, read the Declaration of Solidarity with Cuba at the closing session on Sunday of the Anti-Imperialist Encounter of Solidarity, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism.

Cuban Communist Party leader, Raúl Castro Ruz, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro attended Sunday the closing of the Anti-Imperialist Encounter of Solidarity, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism held in Havana.

Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, urged the social and popular movements and political forces of the left and progressives to move forward in close unity and to mobilize all people of goodwill to confront neoliberal capitalism.

With the presence of more than a thousand representatives of social movements, solidarity organizations, political forces, as well as personalities from the intellectual and academic world, the Anti-imperialist Meeting of Solidarity for Democracy and Against Neoliberalism got underway Friday in Havana.

Organizers of the Anti-Imperialist Meeting of Solidarity for Democracy and against Neoliberalism called on social movements and progressive forces worldwide to strengthen unity to counter attacks on the sovereignty of peoples.
