Speech by Miguel M. Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of Cuba´s Councils of State and Ministers, during the closing of the 25th Sao Paulo Forum, in Venezuela, July 28, 2019, Year 61 of the Revolution

Keeping peace in Venezuela and the Latin American and Caribbean region is a priority for the political and social parties and organizations that are members of the Sao Paulo Forum, held in Caracas until Sunday.

Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez said Sunday that Venezuela is the first anti-imperialist trench of the world, and urged the Sao Paulo Forum to adopt a more active role, in the complex international scenario, characterized by a renewed imperial hostility and the retreat of progressive forces in some countries of the region.

Cuba has invited participants at the 25th Sao Paulo Forum, currently meeting in Caracas, Venezuela, to be present at the Meeting of Anti-imperialist Solidarity for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, which will take place in Havana from November 1st to the 3rd.

The coming 25th Forum of Sao Paulo will gather in this capital more than 500 social leaders from the five continents between July 25 and 28.

The final day of the 24th Annual Meeting of the São Paulo Forum (FSP) in Havana, July 17, began with a special plenary devoted to the thought of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, his relationship with the Forum, and the construction of Latin American and Caribbean unity.

During the closing session of the Sao Paolo Forum yesterday, an international campaign to demand "Freedom for Lula now" was launched, with a worldwide twitter effort planned for this coming August

A special plenary session entitled "For the Unity and Integration of Latin America and the Caribbean," central theme of the 24th Meeting of the São Paulo Forum, focused the debates of the second day of this annual space for political coordination, underway in Havana.

More than 430 delegates from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Europe are participating in the 24th Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum, a three-day meeting inaugurated today in this capital with the Left''s unity as its central theme.

From July 15 to July 17, Cuba's capital will host the 24th Annual Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum, an event that will be focused on the unity of leftist parties and organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
