More than 20,000 workers are assigned to work distance and telework

As a result of the increase of positive cases to COVID-19 in the municipality of Las Tunas in the last weeks, new labor provisions are implemented today to avoid reaching the autochthonous transmission phase of the virus.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Miguel Velázquez González, provincial director of Labor and Social Security, assured 26 that in the current epidemiological context, more than 20 thousand local subordinates from Las Tunas are assigned to the modalities of distance work and telework, and the projection is that they increase to the extent that their profiles allow it.

"We want to point out that so far all work centers remain active," commented the manager. We are going to intensify compliance with hygienic-sanitary measures so that the main productive, social and service activities that guarantee the economic life of the territory continue to be vital.

“Three of the 127 existing self-employment activities will cease audio equipment operators, recreation equipment operators, and party and birthday organizers, exempt from payments to the National Tax Administration Office (ONAT) during their interruption.

“As of today, Monday, it was decided to reopen the 10 bodybuilding gyms that the municipality has, at half their capacity and with strict compliance with sanitary protocols, which include constant disinfection of the equipment.

“As for the gastronomic activity, takeaway offers and home delivery will be stimulated. The restaurants of the non-state sector will provide services at 50 percent of their installed capacity and will only sell take away drinks until 9:00 pm.”

Velázquez González emphasized that before the measure of regulating the entry of people to the provincial capital, the Transportation Company must guarantee the transfer of those who work here and live in other municipalities. In addition to Health professionals, the rest of the activities of the economy will be considered, since in the third phase of the recovery stage, the wage guarantee for absence from work is not established.

He pointed out that childcare centers and semi-boarding schools will continue to provide services so as not to interrupt the labor obligations of working families.

The manager pointed out that wage guarantees are maintained in the event that there is a focus and, therefore, a work center is closed, or when a worker's place of residence is linked to an event and mobility is suspended.

In correspondence with the labor provisions established by the Temporary Group to confront COVID-19 in the territory, the Provincial Labor Directorate advocates compliance with the epidemiological provisions within labor groups, to avoid interruptions that harm the family and municipal economies.
