Las Tunas, Cuba.- The Stainless Steels (Acinox) and the Francisco Cabrera metal structures (Metunas) companies jointly manufactured some 130 beds for the isolation centers for suspected patients of COVID-19. The task was carried out directly by workers from the business units of Maintenance Base and Industrial Plants of Acinox Las Tunas and the Forming and Painting Workshops of Metunas.

These pieces of furniture are very necessary to provide all the conditions to those who are being held under medical surveillance until it is clear whether or not they are carriers of the SARS-CoV-2. At Acinox Las Tunas, in addition, 90 buckets and various drying rack modules were prepared for use in that facilities, said Eraldo González Arias, who is the director of that entity.

González Arias added that Ludema Furniture base business unit has already delivered 50 pillows and produces 250 mattress linings for the Guillermo Domínguez hospital, in Puerto Padre. In this same health institution, the Alastor Company is in charge of assembling a boiler.

On the other hand, he detailed that while Acinox steel mill remains idle for energy issues, they hope to comply with the monthly plan of 3,400 corrugated steel bars. In one of the main industries in the province, he said, more than 500 workers took advantage of the remote work modality.
