Las Tunas branch of the Wholesale Marketing and Distribution of Medicines (EMCOMED in Spanish) received the National Distinguished Condition

Recognition of the outstanding work of the Las Tunas branch of the Wholesale Marketing and Distribution of Medicines (EMCOMED in Spanish) with the National Distinguished Condition was the reason for the meeting of the highest authorities of the Cuban Communist Party and the Cuban Workers' Central Union (CTC by its acronym in Spanish) with the collective of this institution.

The CTC awarded the Juan Tomás Roig Mesa Medal to five female workers.Las Tunas, Cuba.- The 146 men and women who make up the Basic Business Unit are referents in the performance of a set of vital tasks to save lives. At the ceremony, the CTC awarded the Juan Tomás Roig Mesa Medal to five women for their 20 years of work at the center, a distinction granted by the National Union of Science Workers, and endorsed by the Ministry of Public Health.

Marlenis Borrego Torres is one of the honorees and is very proud. For her, "it is the recognition of our colleagues, of the institutions and of the health Union, which makes us feel privileged to be part of this great effort that the country is making to move the Cuban Health System forward."

The work of EMCOMED Las Tunas stands out nationally in the search for drug solutions. Together with Public Health, it has allowed them to cover the main needs of the territory.

"We guarantee the availability of medicines in pharmacies and health care units. We guarantee a 24-hour emergency service. We try to reach everyone, including the most intricate communities with home services of peritoneal dialysis to protect those patients who are so sensitive in the population," Nayelin Pérez González, EMCOMED main commercial specialist, told the press.

They have also ventured into online sales of blood pressure monitors to people who have relatives outside the island and in the delivery of reagent products to some laboratories in the province, which keeps them in their position as logistics operators.

Its director, Idania Galano Milhet, recognizes that the recognition received entails a greater commitment: "We know that our workers have the mission of transporting life within the Health System; therefore, the challenge is to grow in the face of these adversities, and we are happy for the task we have been given.”
