The President of the Republic exchanged in the city of Las Tunas with relatives of Dr. Assel Herrera Correa, one of the two Cuban doctors abducted in Kenya on April 2018.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- “We know that the Cuban Revolution does not abandon any of its children,” Dr. Assel Herrera's father told Díaz-Canel.
During the dialogue with the relatives of the doctor, the Cuban President reiterated them the total support of the Cuban Government in the midst of this unfortunately long and complex process.
Díaz-Canel became interested in knowing details of the daily life of this family, the health of the parents, the university studies of his daughter, the support of the neighbors ... And amid the pain that this situation causes them, Antonio Herrera Oduardo, father of the doctor, narrated some anecdotes to the Cuban President; and even offered advice on how to make a better harvest in the territory, because of his experience on the sugar sector.
The President of the Republic - accompanied by the highest authorities of the Cuban Communist Party and the Government in the province - assured the family that efforts are made tirelessly, and work in coordination with the authorities of Kenya to achieve the return to the Homeland of Assel Herrera Correa, specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine, and Landy Rodríguez Hernández, specialist in Surgery, from Villa Clara.
