Solar panels will benefit water supply to the population.

A change in the energy matrix is experienced by the Jobabo municipality, in the south of Las Tunas, with the installation of solar panels for electricity generation in a group of water pumping systems for the supply to the population, as part of the improvement of services and greater access to drinking water.

Jobabo, Las Tunas.- The director of Aqueduct and Sewerage in this territory, Gleyvys González Figueredo, said that 24 systems will be installed during the year, with the possibility of increasing them.

"We started with the community of La Canoa, which has had a well that was drilled for several years and due to the distance from the electrical system, and given the investment situation of the agency, had not been possible to electrify," the directive pointed out.

She said that the panels are already in the municipality and the work will continue in the settlements of El 55 and Ramírez, affected by the distribution of water by tank trucks, a service that has become more complex due to the lack of resources.

The drilling of wells in places where there are no supply sources is another of the actions of the strategy to alleviate the difficult situation presented by the inhabitants in the face of the intense drought, González Figueredo confirmed.

In Jobabo, according to the director of Aqueduct and Sewerage, five wells will be drilled, that of "Mejías" has already been completed, although it is currently exhausted. Work is underway on the repair and maintenance plan to eliminate leaks and the intention is to recover La Punta well to supply the inhabitants of Martí Avenue, and the Fernando Álvarez and Hermanos Acosta streets.
