Many of the plastics workers who are now working in Las Tunas came to this world because of a partner's involvement; others, because it is a way of working that potentially increases their economy, and there are those who, like Yunior Ricardo Hidalgo, is inserted out of curiosity.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- A graduate of Mining Engineering from the University of Moa, he took his first steps in this field with his wife, back in 2010, from Havana. They currently live in Las Tunas and the studies they have carried out on the advantages and use of this material allowed them to immerse themselves in the manufacture of one-liter knobs, as well as cleaning utensils.

"For the one-liter knobs we use blowing machines, I want to clarify that all of them are rustic, of national manufacture, and have been improved over the years and by myself, emphasizes Yunior. These are part of a project that was presented to the Raw Materials Recovery Company (ERMP), which led to a linkage with the entity and currently, this part of the manufacturing process is based there.

"What we do is to melt the plastic, then inject it and take it to a tip that blows the mold of the one-liter knob. The procedure is simple and the plastic we use is high-density polyethylene, which is black, easy to mold as long as it has received the necessary heat."

Yunior is self-employed and the linkage with the Raw Materials Company was not difficult for him, due to the magnitude of the project presented, which allows him to do this type of contracting.

With enthusiasm, he talks about plastic, and the way it came to ERMP because there is no denying the fact that they are potential suppliers of recyclable material, in addition to providing good working space and energy.

"Since we signed the contract for the cooperative production of one-liter knobs, everything has been going well, we have good communication with the director of the entity and we are currently working on enabling a local next to the blowing machine to place a mill, which belongs to the company, which I modified to feed the production machine, Yunior continues."

"We also want to insert the Sedal line knobs into our production, I think it is important to recycle the raw material and transform it.”

According to this 40-year-old man, "Linking up with an organization as a self-employed worker is not difficult and I think that anyone could do it, you just need to investigate and have the motivation to do it.

"In my case, I try to always keep up to date with the news of the country, and I think I am looking to the future, I see the productive chaining as a very strategic opportunity, and I am simply taking advantage of it because I think it opens doors, and I like the idea, I see it well and I am making the most of it."

Growing in his branch of work does not remain only with the EMRP, but goes on to companies such as ACINOX Las Tunas, with whom he seeks collaboration for the renewal of machinery. "This would be a mechanical collaboration, I proposed to them to make me a machine that can put the bristles of the broom hairs, in the case of my productions of cleaning supplies."

"In addition, with them, I want to make propeller shafts for Russian washing machines, and with the injection machine they can be made and we solve a big problem in Cuban homes."

"I would also like to create an alliance with the health sector, for my part with the machines and plastics, and move this important sector forward for the country. We are reaching out to other provinces, and in Santa Clara, I am signing a contract with the Mold and Die Making Company, all to specialize our productions and create a higher quality product.”
