The FMC is an active force in the transformation of the society in Las Tunas.

The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC by its acronym in Spanish) for their active struggle in favor of the development and growth of women in the different spheres of economic, political, and social life in the Balcony of the East recognized six of the eight municipalities of the province of Las Tunas.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The Women's and Family Guidance Centers and the National Program for the Advancement of Women have become leading spaces for prevention, learning, strengthening, and support in all the communities of this geography, Yolennys Osorio Peña, secretary general of this organization in the territory, indicated in an exclusive interview with the Cuban News Agency.

"We are talking about actions that have allowed us to reach the more than 237,000 members of the FMC, with activism and inclusive dialogues dedicated to all ages, but especially the youngest; with ideological work that allows them to broaden their vision concerning their rights from their homes to their workplaces," said Osorio Peña.

The various strategies are not only aimed at reorienting the female force towards economic and political parallels but also fighting against the manifestations of violence, in favor of gender equality and respect for the fullness, with a contemporary vision by the current guidelines and programs of the Cuban nation.

"Today we have very important links at all levels, as is the case of the National Association of Small Farmers in which rural women have been empowered, to such an extent that some four thousand are part of the peasant organization, with some 200 in leadership positions and four as presidents of cooperatives," the secretary added.

The use of information technologies, innovation, and science is an irrevocable part of the drive to update the ways of doing things in today's society, in which women have become indispensable bulwarks, with a presence both in the field and in the latest laboratories.

"Without them, we would not be able to reach every family nucleus and feel the reality with a sensitive vision and, above all, act accordingly in the face of any fact or circumstance that threatens the physical or moral integrity of our members," said the leading voice of the FMC in Las Tunas.

On 23 August, the date on which the country will celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the FMC, Las Tunas will be the national headquarters, as announced by Teresa Amarelle Boué, secretary general and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba, on Radio Rebelde.
