Panel “Martí, historical significance in Las Tunas territory”

As part of the Vicente García-José Martí Birthdays Event, the Panel “Martí, historical significance in Las Tunas territory,” convened by the José Martí Cultural Society, the Center for Pedagogical Studies of the University of Las Tunas, and the provincial branch of the Union of Historians of Cuba (UNHIC), was held at the headquarters of the latter institution.

Panel “Martí, historical significance in Las Tunas territory” Las Tunas, Cuba.- It was attended by Dr. Alberto Velázquez Pupo, who made an assessment about Martí's reception in the local press during 2019. He also presented the book “José Martí, Argentine Consul in New York (1890- 1891) Contextual analysis,” by researcher Adolfo Sarracino.

For his part, Dr. José Guillermo Montero Quesada referred to the necessary methodological aspects to assume Martí legacy in various contexts in Las Tunas and the M.Sc. Víctor Manuel Marrero Zaldívar, Historian of the City, addressed the relationship between José Martí and Vicente García.

Several of those who attended also spoke with the panelists, among them Roynel Reyes Ávila, president of the José Martí Youth Movement in the province, who demonstrated the moral duty of the Las Tunas youth to assume the Martí legacy and incorporate it into their daily actions in the new times and scenarios.
