Las Tunas, Cuba.- The positive experiences obtained this academic year will be used in the second edition with the implementation of transformations that aim to improve the quality of this process.
Ivonne Ferrer Acosta, coordinator of this College, told 26 Newspaper that one of these transformations will be the increase of rigor in the selection of those who will integrate the University College.
Only the bachelor's degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Spanish, History, Primary Education, Geography and Labor Education will be offered for the next academic period. These careers are of highest priority for the territory, because there is a greater deficit of professionals in these specialties. The others will be granted by the entrance procedures to Higher Education.
The interviews will be conducted jointly by the Directorate of Education and the University of Las Tunas. The young people that will be chosen must have skills for teaching, as well as good references of their discipline and disposition to study. According to Yurixánder Castillo Rojas, head of the Pre-university Education in the province, a minimum average is not established as a requirement. Nevertheless, applicants must demonstrate their skills in the specialty they choose.
The selected students will attend the twelfth grade in the municipal university centers and the Pepito Tey campus of the University of Las Tunas, under the tutoring of experienced teachers of this educational level. From the beginning, they will have pre-granted their careers and to enter it they must only pass the academic course with good results.
