Las Tunas, Cuba.- Juan Migüel Barrios, provincial deputy director of Education, told the Cuban News Agency that the territory also closed with notable achievements in knowledge competitions at all educational levels, with 37 medals in Primary, a figure that positioned Las Tunas in the first national place for five consecutive years; more than 30 in High School; and two first places in the contest "For a Mathematical Culture."
Pre-university and Technical-Professional teachings reached the second place, standing out the latter in skill competitions that prepare the students for practice, in a permanent link with the business and industrial spheres, added the manager.
The continuity of studies was assured for all the sixth and ninth grade graduates for the sixth consecutive year, he pointed out, with priority for the entrance to the Rita Longa Aróstegui and Rigoberto Batista Chapman pedagogical schools, which will begin the next academic year with an enrollment of more than 700 students and 14 specialties.
During the school year that just ended, Las Tunas strengthened the work with future teachers, as it constitutes one of the main objectives, especially those who will teach during the implementation of the Third Improvement of Cuban Education.
Such effort is endorsed by the quality of the pedagogical training of the more than 1,800 graduates of these provincial institutions and the sustainability of being among the most outstanding in the country, said Migüel.
The merits in the entrance to Higher Education also stand out: above 87 percent of approved students, which placed the territory first in the country; a result in which the call of the family to support the process is recognized, since it allowed that the Melton Almaguer pre-university institute, of the municipality of Jesús Menéndez, and Adult Education achieved 100 percent promotion.
